For experienced operators or ex licence holders, assessors understand your time previously on the forklift. Therefore the course approach is understanding what is required under the Qld state law for obtaining your licence again. New rules and regulations from Workplace Health and Safety have stated the assessor must follow these new guidelines. This course is structured that you will be operating a forklift to lift loads from one point to another , place loads into pallet racks at high levels, perform driving techniques with loads and pre-starts (basic servicing) to name a few. These machines are designed for warehouses, industrial workplaces and construction sites, therefore your course training will always reflect a simulated live work site so you are able to obtain the skills required for real life scenarios.
Course requires students to sit 1 day theory in the classroom and 1 day for the practical component of the course. You are required on the third day for your assessment.
Theory And Calculations
Legislation | planning | calculations | correct safe operating procedures | hazard identification and implementation of controls to reduce the risk of injury | pre start of machine (identifying forklift parts to service) | shutdown of machine (understanding correct procedures) and knowledge of site clean ups.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
Under the legislation, we are able to provide you two options.
The first option; the student can effectively communicate both verbally and written and is able to competently read and write while under instruction throughout the course unassisted.
The second option requires direct assistance for the student, where writing is somewhat difficult. Therefore in regards to written assessments we are able to conduct a one-on-one verbal assessment with the student. This process involves the assessor verbally asking the assessment questions in a one on one scenario.
* Written assessments in English only and provisions from the Australian Government at this stage does not extend to translating devices.
* This is also not a spelling test.
Accredited Trainers and Assessors must by law notify by a online written notification system by each to Workplace Health and Safety.

This type of work also caters for people who have a disability or associated back problems to re-enter the workforce and be able to operate machinery in a warehouse scenario.

Nil qualifications required to undertake this course
Forklift assessment consists of 3 part exam;
Statement of Attainment (SOA) from RTO (commonly known as a completion certificate)
Black and White photographic licence from WHSQ. Each person must apply to QGov after successful completion of your course. Your assessor will provide you information and documentation how to apply online or please refer to this link
Recognition of Prior Learning is usually associated with other qualifications with numerous units in the course to be completed and where the student has completed elsewhere the required units and pays a fee to credit transfer. However this is course is unavailable to RPL due to the nature of the assessment rules and regulations in High Risk Work licensing.
Small business owners and warehousing companies
Transport and Logistics
If you can find it within your licence class, you can operate it nationally.
Verification of Competency VOC
There are two pathways to perform a VOC and the term is usually associated with a certificate or ticket you already obtain, hence the name “verification”. However, the term also refers to the mining sector not just civil construction. The mining ACT allows mining companies to provide a formal method of determining ones competency in-house. Even in High Risk Work without a nationally recognised licence. (This is also evident in the armed forces.)
They will either conduct their own VOC by their own workplace trainers or externally source trainers from companies such as ourselves. The downside for the worker is without having a nationally recognised licence when employment ceases you can no longer use the certificate to operate outside the mine site.
In recent years, employment agencies require (before issuing your mine site employment contract) formal training prior and be able to provide evidence of your licence.
Please note; The requirement of a VOC to be conducted may vary from site to site and may determine the available machine types, size, brands being operated, current licences and or industry experience.
Please enroll with our RTO training partner. Enrollment forms can be located in the news and media section or the link above the photo on this course page, thank you.
