Language, Literacy and Numeracy
Under the legislation, we are able to provide you two options.
The first option; the student can effectively communicate both verbally and written and is able to competently read and write while under instruction throughout the course unassisted.
The second option requires direct assistance for the student, where writing is somewhat difficult. Therefore in regards to written assessments we are able to conduct a one-on-one verbal assessment with the student.
This process involves the assessor verbally asking the assessment questions in a one on one scenario.
- Written assessments in English only and provisions from the Australian Government at this stage does not extend to translating devices.
- This is also not a spelling test.
Government Notification
Accredited Trainers and Assessors must by law notify via an online written notification system for each assessment to be conducted to Workplace Health and Safety QLD or known as Safe Work NSW in their respective state.

Verification of Competency VOC
There are two pathways to perform a VOC and the term is usually associated with a certificate or ticket you already obtain, hence the name “verification”. However, the term also refers to the mining sector not just civil construction. The mining ACT allows mining companies to provide a formal method of determining ones competency in-house. Even in High Risk Work without a nationally recognised licence. (This is also evident in the armed forces)
They will either conduct their own VOC by their own workplace trainers or externally source trainers from companies such as ourselves. The downside for the worker is without having a nationally recognised licence when employment ceases you can no longer use the certificate to operate outside the mine site.
In recent years, employment agencies require (before issuing your mine site employment contract) formal training prior and be able to provide evidence of your licence.
Please note; The requirement of a VOC to be conducted may vary from site to site and may determine the available machine types, size, brands being operated, current licences and or industry experience.
