Course Outline

Provide First Aid is a general requirement for workplaces to have employees trained to become first responder’s when an emergency arises. Nowadays, providing First Aid has become a course that should be conducted at least once in a persons lifetime.  It is recommended that in accordance with the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, that first aid skills are renewed every three years and resuscitation skills are renewed every 12 months.  In this course you will learn about the types of first aid and how to respond, provide basic bandaging to wounds (scenario), provide air and compression’s to a manikin (CPR) and correctly fit a electronic device (AED) to a patient (manikin)

Below are the 3 units to complete Provide First Aid + AED + CPR they are:

  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid
  • HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
These course units are able to be split into 2 training sessions for those requiring Provide First Aid or the CPR + AED (defib) components

Practical

Provide first aid exercises (triangular and wound bandages application) | CPR for adult and child | Correct fitting of an AED

Language, Literacy and Numeracy

A satisfactory level of reading and writing skills is required due to the nature of this course.

Medical

Must be physically fit to provide basic life saving medical treatment.

Prerequisite Information

Must be 17 years of age or older.
